Massage Therapy Educational Requirements
A Board recognized program of massage therapy shall require its pupils to complete:
A minimum of 625 hours of instruction in the following courses before receiving a certificate:
- At least 345 hours of instruction which is taken in a classroom setting with hands-on instruction in courses of massage therapy, assessment, theory and application instruction, which must include at least 80 hours in clinical instruction; and
- At least 280 hours of instruction in the following areas: (a) Pathology; (b) Business; (c) Ethics; (d) Anatomy; (e) Physiology; (f) Kinesiology; and (g) Any other courses the program deems necessary.
Reflexology Educational Requirements
A Board recognized program of reflexology
shall require its pupils to complete:
A minimum of 200 hours of instruction which includes:
- At least 25 hours of instruction in reflexology theory, history, zones, meridians and relaxation response
- At least 40 hours of instruction in body systems relating to reflexology, including, without limitation, a study of the leg and foot as a structure, hands-on palpation of landmarks with sensory identification of palpated areas, and a map of reflexes
- At least 30 hours of instruction in anatomy and physiology
- At least 15 hours of instruction in business or ethics or a combined total of at least 15 hours of instruction in business and ethics
- At least 90 hours of instruction in supervised practicum or clinical work
Structural Integration Educational Requirements:
A Board recognized program of structural integration shall require its pupils to complete:
A minimum of 730 hours of instruction which includes:
- At least 230 hours of instruction in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology;
- At least 500 hours of instruction which is taken in a classroom setting with hands-on instruction in assessment, theory and application instruction, which must include:
- At least 100 hours in clinical instruction;
- At least 40 hours of instruction in pathology;
- At least 20 hours of instruction in business; and
- At least 20 hours of instruction in ethics.
