Updated Continuing Education Requirements
Recently the Nevada State Board of Massage Therapy went through the process of updating some of our regulations contained in Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) Chapter 640C. The process included a workshop, survey of licensees, and a hearing to adopt the proposed changes. LCB File No. R137-26 was approved by the Legislative Commission on September 24.
The changes reduce the required number of continuing education hours to six (6) hours every two years to be able to renew massage therapy, reflexology, or structural integration licenses. Licensees are able to take more hours than are required, excess hours are no longer banked for roll-over to the next renewal.
The provisions in NAC 640C.119, requiring two (2) hours of education in topics related to human trafficking for the first renewal period, then two (2) hours of ethics for subsequent renewal periods remain unchanged. The other four (4) hours of continuing education must be relevant to the practice of massage therapy, reflexology, or structural integration, as appropriate for the license held.
